CLASSIC LANGUAGES SUMMER SCHOOL COURSE (Classical Syriac/Ancient Greek/Classical Latin)

The three dominant languages of the ancient world were Classical Syriac, Ancient Greek, and Latin, each of which played a major role in shaping its culture. Our primary goal in this summer school is to offer a program equivalent to a semester at university level within the span of one month. We aim to provide a solid foundation for these languages, which were influential not only in ancient times but also during a significant period of the Middle Ages. Classes will be offered through an intensive program: They will take place for three hours per day per course five days a week. At the weekends, seminars led by experts who have made significant contributions to their fields will be offered.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit important archaeological sites in Muğla, as well as unwind by the seaside to relieve the fatigue of the week and to refresh.During the summer school, classes will be conducted separately in Turkish and English, depending on the profile and number of applicants. Lessons will be given alternately at the historical Culture House in the central district of Menteşe and at the Foreign Languages School building located on the main campus.

Accommodations will be provided in single or double occupancy rooms with breakfast at the Residorm student dormitory located on the main university campus. Participants will have to be responsible for their travel to and from Muğla but all transportation services for the duration of the courses will be provided by the university.

Participants will be responsible for their various incidental expenditures.
